• Diamond entering Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE) from overseas is exempted from value-added tax at the stage of import. Diamond traded in SDE is exempted from value-added tax and consumption tax. Diamond entering domestic market from SDE is subject to 4% value-added tax at the stage of import which is collected by the customs and is deductible upon the presentation of proper taxation documents.
• Diamond entering & leaving SDE is subject to the checking by SDE Customs, who shall check and confirm the weight, quality and value of it and issue confirmation documents upon entry & exit. Besides, rough diamond is even subject to the checking by the office of Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, who shall check and confirm the Kimberly certificates.
Diamond entering & leaving SDE, diamond trade in SDE are all subject to the computerized registering.
